As the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 nears, the West Indies have gathered crucial momentum with back-to-back wins in the tri-series against Ireland and Pakistan.

In their latest outing, an all-round batting performance saw the West Indies clinch their third-highest Women’s T20I total against Pakistan.

Posting 199/6 off their 20 overs, the Windies were powered by power-hitting displays by captain Hayley Matthews (40), Stafanie Taylor (33), Chinelley Henry (33) and Jannillea Glasgow (42).

Highest Women's T20I totals by West Indies

Score Opposition (Year)
213/3 Australia (2023)
201/6 Bangladesh (2025)
199/6 Pakistan (2026)
191/4 Netherlands (2010)
188/1 Ireland (2019)

“To post the total that we did will definitely put some confidence in our batting lineup. And to do it with so many different people contributing was great to see,” skipper Hayley Matthews noted afterwards in a Cricket West Indies video.

The depth of talent within the West Indies squad has also been highlighted by their bowling performance in the two games. The 18 wickets they have taken against Ireland and Pakistan have been split among nine bowlers.

“It shows how many bowling options we really have. I think we've used about 10 or 11 bowlers so far in the two matches, which shows that we have a lot of people that we call on,” Matthews said.

Another prominent feature on Friday’s win in Dublin was vice-captain Chinelle Henry’s all-round performance (33 runs and 2/13) that saw her claim the Player of the Match award.

Henry also reaffirmed Matthews’ belief in the team’s depth.

“Yesterday and today, it's a completely different playing XI and to see people who was on the bench, the way they came into the team and just kind of fit in with their performances, especially Glasgow (42) with the bat.

“It was pretty good to see that we do a switch in terms of the playing XI and we have players who can actually step up and help the team. So it's a really good look heading into the T20 World Cup.”

Slotted in Group 2 of the Women’s T20 World Cup, the West Indies will go up against host England, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Ireland and the defending champions New Zealand.

The Matthews-led team will kickstart their campaign on June 13 against the White Ferns at Hampshire Bowl, Southampton.
