Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier: Day 4 wrap
Scotland gained a crucial victory as Nepal and Papua New Guinea got off the mark at the Global Qualifier tournament in Nepal.
Bangladesh made it four wins out of four games with a convincing victory over Ireland in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2026 Global Qualifier in Nepal while Scotland saw off Thailand to leapfrog them in the points table.
It was also a rewarding day for hosts Nepal and Papua New Guinea, who recorded their first wins at the tournament to keep their hopes alive.

Scotland leapfrog Thailand with five-wicket win
Scotland put Thailand in after winning the toss and dealt their opponents early blows by picking up three wickets inside the first eight overs.
Captain Naruemol Chaiwai and Chanida Sutthiruang rebuild the Thailand innings with a 57-run partnership.
Katherine Fraser broke the partnership but skipper Chaiwai battled on, compiling 55-ball 73 to take Thailand's total to 118/6 in their 20 overs.
Defending the total, Thailand struck early with the ball as well, dismissing Darcey Carter and Kathryn Bryce. But Fraser and Sarah Bryce counter-attacked with a solid 67-run partnership that put Scotland in a strong position for the chase.
Even after Fraser lost her wicket, scoring 41 runs off 31 balls, Bryce carried on to take Scotland home with an unbeaten 52 off just 35 deliveries.

Papua New Guinea come up clutch against Namibia
PNG have scored their first win at the Women's T20 World Cup Qualifier 2026 off the back of a nail-biting run chase, helped by a 58-run opening stand.
Namibia earlier posted 122/5 off their 20 overs, with Jurriene Diergaardt leading from the front with 36 off 41 at the top of the order. Sibona Jimmy led the bowling charge for Papua New Guinea, claiming figures of 2/18 off her two overs.
Opening pair Hollan Doriga (39 off 25) and Konio Oala (20 off 18) got PNG's run chase off to a blistering start. And while the Namibian bowlers dragged their side right back into contention, Papua New Guinea held on and completed the chase with two balls and three wickets to spare.
PNG keep their Super Six hopes alive ahead what will be a crucial fixture against the USA on Monday.

Bangladesh edge Ireland in close encounter
Bangladesh got off to a strong start led by Dilara Akter and Sharmin Akhter who posted a 70-run stand for the second wicket. Akter scored 35 off 27 deliveries while Akhter completed her half-century with a 45-ball 52.
Even though the partnership was broken by Lara McBride in the 12th over, a 16-ball 30 cameo from Sobhana Mostary took Bangladesh to 153/7 in their 20 overs.
Ireland got off to a flying start with Gaby Lewis and Amy Hunter in full flow. Their dominant opening stand was interrupted when Hunter had to retire hurt while batting on 25 with Ireland at 53 without the loss of any wicket.
The injury allowed Bangladesh a way back into the game and Shorna Akter struck twin blows removing Orla Predergast and Leah Paul in the same over.
Laura Delaney appeared to be steading the Irish ship before she was run out with Ireland still needing 36 in 15 deliveries.
Lewis' departure after a well-made 73 completely flattened the Irish chase even though Hunter returned to bat. The opening batter added ten runs to her pre-injury score but it wasn't enough to take Ireland home as they fell short by 9 runs.
Bangladesh have finished top of Group A, winning all four of their matches while Ireland sit second on four points with one game to play.

Nepal off the mark against Zimbabwe
Nepal put Zimbabwe in to bat first and got rid of captain Chipo Mugeri-Tiripano early. But Beloved Biza and Kelis Ndhlovu made telling contributions with the bat. Biza anchored the innings with 35-ball 34 while Ndhlovu produced a more aggressive 36-ball 52.
Howeverl Nepal bounced back with Riya Sharma taking two quick wickets as they restricted Zimbabwe to 129/6 in their 20 overs.
Bindu Rawal and Puja Mahato got Nepal chase going. Christabel Chatonzwa dismissed Rawal but Mahato batted with a lor of craft and kept the pressure on the Zimbabwean bowlers.
Captain Indu Barma played a useful knock of 22 to support Mahato who remained unbeaten to take Nepal to a six-wicket win with three balls to spare.
The defeat means Zimbabwe have lost all their group games with Nepal picking up their first triumph of the tournament ahead of their crucial final match against Scotland.
