  • ICC Women’s World Cup winners virtually assure themselves of a place in the next edition in New Zealand
  • Beaumont, Knight, Nation and Fletcher among those to move up in latest ODI rankings

England’s 3-0 victory over the West Indies in the ICC Women’s Championship has virtually assured them of a place in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2021 in New Zealand even as a number of their players have moved up in the MRF Tyres ICC Women’s ODI Player Rankings.

England, who won the World Cup at home in 2017, are now on 24 points and two points ahead of Australia on the points table after 18 matches each. India and South Africa are both on 16 points from 15 matches, with the former ahead on net run-rate.

Pakistan are fifth with 15 from 15 and New Zealand sixth with 14 from 15 in the eight-team championship that provides direct qualification berths to them as hosts and four other teams in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2021. The West Indies (11 from 15) and Sri Lanka (two from 15) follow in the table.

The ODI rankings table sees Tammy Beaumont move up two places to sixth position among batters after scoring 139 runs in the series while Amy Jones’s series-topping 189 runs, including two half-centuries, has helped her move up six places to 26th. Heather Knight has moved up four places to seventh in the batting list and up two places to 10th among all-rounders.

In the bowling list, Laura Marsh and Sophie Eccelestone occupy the 21st and 22nd positions, respectively, after gaining one and five places, respectively.

For the West Indies, left-handed wicketkeeper-batter Kycia A Knight has moved up one place to 57th and Chedean Nation up nine places to 62nd. Afy Fletcher has moved up two places in the list of bowlers to 26th
