Super Kings and Royal Challengers clash in IPL 2019 opener

IPL news

The schedule for the first two weeks of Indian Premier League 2019 has been released, with the tournament to begin on 23 March as defending champions Chennai Super Kings take on Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai.

The schedule from the starting date to 5 April 2019 has a total of 17 matches with each team playing a minimum of four matches. Delhi Capitals and Bangalore are playing five games each.

Each team is scheduled to play a minimum two home and two away matches. Delhi are playing three home games and Bangalore have three away fixtures.

However, all the fixtures are subject to the announcement of the dates of India's general elections, which are expected to be contested in the months of April and May and will clash with the IPL.

"IPL releases the schedule of the first two weeks (17 matches) of the VIVO IPL 2019 Season. These are still subject to the announcement of the Lok Sabha 2019 election dates," a release on IPL's official website, iplt20.com, read.

"Once these have been released, BCCI will address any issues with the first two weeks and will also prepare a schedule for the remainder of the season working with the local authorities around the polling dates."
