Deandra Dottin 5/5 delights home crowd as Bangladesh crumble

WI v Ban, WT20 Match 3, report

The Windies batting faltered in the face of accurate bowling and a committed fielding performance from Bangladesh, but their pacers, lead by Deandra Dottin, did well to defend a small total to open their ICC Women's World T20 2018 campaign with a 60-run win.

Playing the third match of the day at the Guyana National Stadium, Georgetown, on Friday, 9 November, Bangladesh put the home side in and their bowlers immediately applied the pressure. Jahanara Alam, the pacer, took two in two balls to send back both openers.

Stafanie Taylor struggled against the spinners and at 50/5, the Windies looked in some trouble. Only a handy 32 off 24 balls from Kycia Knight gave the home crowd something to cheer and took her team past 100.

Chasing 107, Bangladesh were immediately pegged back by the Windies pacers. Shakera Selman and Shamilia Connell kept things tight, but it was Deandra Dottin, with incredible figures of 3.4-1-5-5, that tore through their middle order.

Bangladesh collapsed to their third-lowest total and the lowest ever of the Women's World T20.
