Afridi withdraws retirement from international cricket

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has withdrawn his decision of retiring from international cricket and said that he is available to play for the country, according to a news report.

Afridi had announced his retirement from international cricket in May after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had removed him as one-day international (ODI) captain following a dispute with the then coach Waqar Younis.

Afridi had developed differences with Waqar, and criticized some PCB officials after he returned from the tour of West Indies in May. he PCB removed him as ODI captain for his comments and slapped a fine of.4.5 million rupees.

The 31-year-old later announced his conditional retirement in protest against his treatment by the board.

Since then, Waqar has quit as coach of the national team, citing personal and health reasons, and Ijaz Butt has been replaced as PCB chief by noted banker Chaudhary Zaka Ashraf.

Reversing his retirement decision, Afridi said that the situation has improved after the appointment of the new PCB chief, Geo News reported, attributing to sources.

Afridi also said that he is now ready to play under any captain, and is available to play for the country.
