Best Practice Coaching Seminar in Denmark
On the 10th and 11th November the Danish House of Sports in Broendby, near Copenhagen, hosted the first ICC Europe and Danish Cricket ¡§Best Practice¡¨ Coaching Seminar. Over the weekend 12 coaches from a variety of backgrounds and varied levels of experience embarked on an intensive coaching/training program which included:

?X The Modern Game ¡V 50 over cricket
?X Session Planning / Group Coaching / Running a net Session
?X Importance of Discipline and the Code of Conduct
?X Basics Principles of Batting and Bowling
?X High Performance Coaching ¡V Match Analysis/Video analysis, Fitness and Nutrition, Programming and Planning
Course organiser Peter Drinnen (Queensland and ECC) and Ole ¡§Stan¡¨ Mortensen (Derbyshire and Denmark) were in charge of delivering this first Best Practice Coaching Seminar outside of England.
The seminar was a real ¡§eye-opener¡¨ for all the coaches who took part and the response from the coaches has been extremely positive, so hopefully in the future a number of new Best Practice Coaching Seminars can take place throughout Europe.
By the end of the seminar all coaches demonstrated that they had improved their awareness of other important areas of the game that they may not have previously considered. In addition, they showed an improved understanding and ability to deliver the skills of the game to the players under their guidance. Indeed by attending this Best Practice Coaching Seminar some of the coaches have undoubtedly given themselves an improved chance of being fast tracked on to an ECB/ICC Europe level III course sometime in the future.
The seminar was very well organised and delivered, reflecting the efficiency and expertise that is the hallmark of excellent teamwork between the ICC Europe and Danish Cricket Association.
Last but not least thanks to Peter, his passion for the game and overall knowledge was outstanding. It was a pleasure working with Peter, and hopefully sometime in the near future this event can be repeated for the benefit of cricket development throughout Europe.
