England drops Harmison, Hoggard for 2nd Test
Wellington, New Zealand: England has dropped fast bowlers Steve Harmison and Matthew Hoggard for the second cricket Test against New Zealand, starting Thursday, recalling James Anderson and Stuart Broad.
Hoggard took one wicket for 151 runs and Harmison 1-121 in last week's first Test at Hamilton, which New Zealand won by 189 runs.
The poor form of the veteran pacemen has led to the recall of Anderson, who has played 20 Tests, and Broad, who made his Test debut against Sri Lanka in December, for the second match of the three-Test series at the Basin Reserve.
Broad bowled well during the five-match limited overs series ahead of the Tests, while Anderson was recently loaned by England to the Auckland provincial team where he took 2-95 from 38 overs in a recent first class match against Wellington.
New Zealand will announce its starting XI immediately prior to the start of play on Thursday.
England squad: Michael Vaughan (captain), Alastair Cook, Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Tim Ambrose, Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, James Anderson, Monty Panesar.
