Marist Brothers High School and Central College will do battle next week to decide the winners of this year's national Cricket Fiji secondary school championship.

The two schools won their respective eastern and western divisions early in the year and will now play off for the overall title at the Central College ground in Lautoka on Friday, October 14.

It will be a chance for Central to defend the crown which it has held for two years with the competition not held last year.

They defeated Tilak High School in the western final last term to reach the national decider, while Marist pulled off a surprise win against Laucala Bay High School in first term to claim the eastern spot.

Suva representatives James and Itu Konusi should lead the way for Marist, while Central's Pawal Kumar, Prashant Goundar and Lomario Moata all played for Lautoka this year.

Development manager Josefa Rika said it promised to be an exciting game.

"I think both teams are looking forward to the opportunity to play at a higher level and will be doing their best to represent their schools well," Rika said.

"They have both shown good form in their earlier matches and I think it's going to very competitive and a great spectacle."

"Following the recent Under 15 and Under 19 championships, we have seen there is a lot of talent coming through the junior levels and this will be another chance for them to compete and develop their game."

The game will be a 20-over match starting at midday.
