Media Advisory on ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021

Dubai International Cricket Stadium

The International Cricket Council has announced the protocols for media attending the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021, which will be played in a bio-safe Managed Event Environment with the safety of players, fans, accredited personnel and the communities of the United Arab Emirates and Oman being our highest priority.

The initial accreditation process is now complete and confirmation has been provided to those media accredited to attend the event. We are looking forward to welcoming you back, although in smaller numbers than previous ICC events due to limited capacity in our media centres owing to the required social distancing as per government guidelines.

Members of the media will need to adhere to the bio-safety protocols during the tournament and any non-compliance will result in the immediate removal of accreditation and could have an impact on attendance at future ICC events.

Some important points to note with regard to bio-security measures:

  1. All accredited media and photographers will undergo a rapid antigen test on each match day, which will be done on entry to the venue, these tests will be provided by the ICC.
  2. The media are responsible for any additional testing requirements to enter country or venue. At present, this is required for entry into both the UAE and Oman and for entry to Abu Dhabi Stadium (48 hours prior to gaining access to the venue). Testing at a reduced rate is available through the ICC Tournament Medical provider (details of which will be provided to all media) or at numerous convenient locations throughout the UAE. Additionally there are also ‘test at home’ services that can attend your hotel.
  3. Should you become unwell due to COVID 19, the ICC has agreed preferential rates for treatment with our Tournament Medical Provider VPS and details will be provided in the media guide. .
  4. All accredited media are strongly advised to have a comprehensive travel insurance policy, should hospitalisation be required.
  5. Should a member of the media contract COVID 19, contact tracing will be carried out and close contacts may also be required to quarantine pending further tests.
  6. Accredited media will need to undertake any quarantine imposed by government guidelines at that time and are personally responsible to understand their obligations.
  7. Any accredited media showing symptoms will either be denied entry or be asked to leave a venue. The success of the event relies on us all taking personal responsibility and not attending the venue if you feel unwell. If you attend with symptoms and are found to have contracted COVID, you will be impacting other colleagues who may be close contacts and therefore also required to go into isolation.
  8. Only those with proof of a WHO-approved anti-COVID jab will be allowed to attend Media Conferences in person. Any individuals with non-WHO approved vaccination will be referred to the Tournament Chief Medical Officer for approval.

How Members of the Media will be able to work during the tournament:
