NBV Supports Vanuatu Beach Cricket
The Vanuatu Cricket Association this week received a sum of 450,000vt along with dozens of shirts and caps from National Bank of Vanuatu's (NBV) Head of Relationship Banking & Marketing, Mr Serge Taga.
The sponsorship was specifically to assist Vanuatu Cricket with the School Cricket Championship and the Beach cricket carnival to be held on Friday August 19th at Mele Beach, both of which are children's cricket development programs.
During the sponsorship presentation at the Bank, Mr Taga confirmed the Bank is proud to sponsor the event. The bank is happy to provide financial assistance for the school cricket competition and one day carnival.
Vanuatu Cricket General Manager, Pierre Chilia, who was also present during the handing over ceremony, extended his acknowledgment to the Bank for its generous support.
The NBV School Cricket Championship finals were played last week with Pango English School winning the under 15 title and Vila East School being crowned the under 13 champions.
"The cricket carnival is a success every year and we look forward to the same on the 19 August. The National Bank of Vanuatu has been sponsoring the beach cricket carnival for the last five years and we are very grateful for the assistance as it will not only help us with the organization of the event but will also allow our young children to be able to play in a different environment while giving them the opportunity to improve their skills in the particular sport," said Chilia.
34 teams from 17 schools will participate: 17 girls teams and 17 boys teams that come from most of the primary schools in and around Port Vila. Teams are drawn into 4 pools with games expecting to commence at 8:00am.
Everyone is welcome to come along and watch our future cricketers play.
