PNG Brian Bell Scholarships R3 Day 2
It was a frustrating day for the Brian Bell Scholarships men on day two of round three as only one of the four matches was completed after two-days of continuous rain.
Runaway Bay which features Norman Vanua, Lega Siaka and Charles Amini was the only team to get onto the field after some great work by their ground crew saw their home ground in good playing condition.
Resuming at 4/57 Runaway Bay were able to score the remaining 20 runs to pass Southport Labrador's score of 77 thanks to a hat-trick from Norman Vanua the week before.
Runaway Bay were eventually bowled out for 125 as they recorded their first victory for the season and at the same time registering their first win over Southport Labrador after more than 10 years and also win the Sam Loxton shield for the first time.
Round 4 sees another clash of the Brian Bell Scholarships players with Chris Amini and Sese Bau (Burleigh Heads) taking on Tony Ura and Jack Vare (Palm beach) whilst Charles Amini, Norman Vanua and Lega Siaka (Runaway Bay) take on Queens and Assad Vala and Jason Kila (Broadbeach Robina) take on Mudgeeraba Nerang.
Currently the top four teams on the table include PNG players.
