PNG's Dai reprimanded for gesturing towards an opponent
PNG's Mahuru Dai has received an official warning and reprimand after pleading guilty to a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during his side's 38 run win against Vanuatu today in the final of the Pepsi ICC East Asia-Pacific Men's Championship in Auckland, New Zealand.
Dai was found to have breached Article 2.1.6 of the code of conduct which relates to "pointing or gesturing towards the pavilion upon the dismissal of a batsman."
The player admitted to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction offered to him by the tournament referee Steve Bernard. As such, there was no need for a formal hearing.
The incident took place after Dai approached Vanuatu's Trevor Langa upon his dismissal in the 4th over.
The charge had been laid by the two on-field umpires Neil Harrison and Nigel Morrison.
