Poonam Yadav, Anam Amin break into top five
Indiaās Poonam Yadav and Pakistanās Anam Amin have broken into the top five on the MRF Tyres ICC Womenās T20I Rankings for bowlers following their performances in the Womenās T20 Asia Cup in Malaysia.
In the latest rankings update on Monday, 11 June, Yadav, the leg-spinner, gained two places to be third on the list, behind Australiaās Megan Schutt and New Zealandās Leigh Kasperek.
The diminutive spinner finished the tournament with seven international wickets, including a career-best 4/9 in the final, but it wasnāt enough to ensure India's victory over Bangladesh.
Amin, the left-arm spinner, who was miserly all tournament, rose a remarkable 13 places to be fifth.
Also making considerable gains were the Bangladesh women, who made history by defeating India twice, as well as Pakistan once, on their way to the title.
Rumana Ahmed, the Player of the Match in the final, rose six places to be 12th on the all-roundersā chart following her six international wickets in the competition and average of 37.5 against the three higher-ranked sides.
The leg-spinning all-rounder also broke into the top 20 among bowlers.
Khadija Tul Kubra, the off-spinner, gained six places to be 13th among bowlers with a career-best 537 ranking points, while Nahida Akter shot up 22 spots to be 40.
For India, the runners-up, captain Harmanpreet Kaur, who won the Player of the Series award and made a fighting fifty in the final, rose marginally by one place to be seventh among batters, while Smriti Mandhana slipped two places to ninth.
