Sri Lanka lose talented spinner to injury ahead of T20 World Cup
Leg-spinner Shashini Gimhani will miss out on her place at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026.
Injury has forced Sri Lanka to make a change in their ICC Women’s T20 World Cup squad. Shashini Gimhani misses out due to a lower-back injury.
Gimhani had featured in seven T20Is, and picked six wickets for an average of 21.16 and an economy of 7.05.
In her place, Chethana Vimukthi comes into the side. The right-arm seamer is yet to play T20Is but has featured in three ODIs for Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka will feature in two warm-up fixtures against Pakistan and the Netherlands on 6 and 9 June before featuring in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup opener against England on 12 June at Edgbaston, Birmingham.
