Pakistan’s Haris Sohail has been ruled out of the rest of the on-going Test series with South Africa with an injury to his right knee.
The injury kept out Haris from the Boxing Day Test, and while Pakistan succumbed to a six-wicket defeat, his replacement Shan Masood impressed in his side’s second innings at the Centurion with a 120-ball 65.
Pakistan's batting will need to fire if they are to fight back to level the Test series against South Africa.

The loss of Haris is a significant one for Pakistan, particularly after he impressed during Pakistan’s Tests in the UAE in 2018, scoring hundreds against both Australia and New Zealand. The left-hander was also amongst the runs during Pakistan’s warm-up match against a CSA Invitation XI, hitting an unbeaten 73 in his second stay at the crease.
The PCB have announced that they will name a replacement, if any, at a later time. The second Test between Pakistan and South Africa is set to begin on 3 January in Cape Town, with the visitors trailing in the series 1-0.
