Player Bio

Everton Weekes formed 'The Three Ws' of West Indian cricket with Frank Worrell and Clyde Walcott. He made his Test debut against England in 1947-48 and on the tour of India which followed, he scored 779 runs at 111.28, setting a world record of five successive hundreds. He scored 194 in Bombay and would have extended his record to six had it not been for a controversial run out in Madras. He accumulated 2310 runs at 79.65 in England in 1950 which included a triple hundred against Cambridge, although in the Tests he made only 338 at 56.33. He was increasingly troubled by a thigh injury, and after an unsuccessful operation, he decided to retire although he was still in his early 30s and finished his career with 4455 in 48 Tests at an average of 58.61. He was also the last of the three Ws to be knighted in 1995.
