The first bowler to take 300 Test wickets, Fred Trueman was one of the greatest fast bowlers to play the game. His 307 Test wickets came at an average of 21.57, with his best figures of 8/31 in 1952 at Manchester against India helping England skittle them out for just 58.

Fred Trueman is regarded as one of the greatest bowlers in cricket's history. Trueman played first-class cricket for Yorkshire from 1949 until 1969, when he retired. He played 67 Tests for England and was the first bowler to take 300 wickets. He averaged 21.57 in Tests - a figure not matched by too many. Trueman and Brian Statham formed one of the most famous bowling partnerships in Test cricket history. He was also a handy batsman who made three first-class centuries.
