The hosts have named a provisional 18-man squad for the three ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League matches against England in Amstelveen.

In addition to Cooper, who is set to play his first ODI in nine years next week, the Netherlands have named uncapped Tim Pringle, a 19-year-old left-arm spinner who has played for New Zealand's Under-19s.

Pringle is the son of Chris Pringle, who played in the Netherlands in the ‘90s and also played for the New Zealand men’s national team, racking up a total of 61 one day internationals to his name.

Cooper, who has played 41 international games for the Netherlands across ODI and T20I cricket, returns to the squad for the first time since 2016 when he played in a T20I match against Ireland.

The Netherlands are coming off a tough ODI series loss against the West Indies where they put up very competitive performances in every game but ended up losing the series 3-0.

But captain Pieter Seelaar is looking at the positives from that series and hopes to continue the progress and development against the reigning ODI world champions.

Seelaar said, “After a very competitive series against the West Indies, we take on the reigning world champions England, taking a lot of positives from the matches against the West Indies into the upcoming Series. In saying that, there are also areas we need to improve in order to be as competitive against England.”

The team’s High Performance Manager, Roland Lefebvre said, "We are very pleased with the arrival of Tom Cooper, who brings with him a huge amount of experience. The knowledge and experience, but also the mentoring role that Tom will have within the young Dutch national team, is of great value. Tom is available for the rest of the international fixtures."

The hosts who are currently 13th on the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Super League table will have a chance to add some points to their tally, while England have a chance to stake a claim for the number one spot in the standings.

This is a historic occasion for both teams as it's the first time the England Men's team will play the Netherlands in an ODI series.

With crucial CWCSL points up for grabs, England announced a strong side for the tour with their regular white-ball skipper Eoin Morgan leading the team.

The Netherlands provisional squad to face England:

Pieter Seelaar (captain), Scott Edwards (wicketkeeper), Musa Ahmad, Shariz Ahmad, Logan van Beek, Philippe Boissevain, Tom Cooper, Aryan Dutt, Clayton Floyd, Vivian Kingma, Fred Klaassen, Ryan Klein, Bas de Leede, Teja Nidamanuru, Max O'Dowd, Tim Pringle, Vikramjit Singh, Shane Snater.
