Lahiru Thirimanne and Dasun Shanka will captain the Sri Lanka ODI and T20I sides respectively on their upcoming tour to Sri Lanka.
For Shanaka, it will be his first taste of captaincy in international cricket while Thirimanne has captained three ODIs back in 2015.
Minod Banuka and Bhanuka Rajapaska both received their maiden international call-ups. Banuka, a wicket-keeper batsman, has been included in both white-ball squads while Rajapaska will only feature in the T20I leg of the tour.
10 Sri Lanka players, including regular ODI and T20I skippers Dimuth Karunaratne and Lasith Malinga, have pulled out of the tour to Pakistan citing security concerns giving opportunities to the likes of Banuka and Rajapaska to potentially make their international debuts.
Sri Lanka arguably surpassed expectations at this year's ICC Men's Cricket World Cup by finishing in sixth place in the group stage and beating eventual champions England in a low-scoring thriller in Leeds. Since the World Cup, they beat Bangladesh impressively 3-0 in a home series in which Lasith Malinga retired from ODI cricket. They will seek to continue their good form in Pakistan.
